George’s syndrome, or velo-cardio-facial syndrome, indicates genetic diseases due to the loss of a portion of chromosome 22. This syndrome is often characterized by malformations in general already evident at birth including heart malformations, malformations of the palate with consequent difficulties in language or feeding, facial abnormalities. It often involves learning difficulties and developmental delay and can also cause incomplete development of the parathyroid glands and thymus generating immune problems, autoimmune diseases.
